In recent years a trend developing a seaside area as a new residential
site has become common. However it is necessary to examine local
characteristics, natural environment, living environment, safety and crime
prevention. Some problems that must be solved became clear for the living
conditions by the questionnaire that was filled out by residents at a
seaside area. One of them is the damage from salty breezes from sea.
Through the investigation of details and frequency of repairs for housing
estates, it became clear that outside repair for housing at the seaside area
was more frequent than for one at the inland. This paper describes the
relationships between the concentration of the chloride ionic contained in
atmosphere and atmospheric weather condition or space elements by examining
sea water aerosol concentration which is to be a precondition against the
damage from salty breezes.
In this study, the survey area is the Hakata bay area, Fukuoka City, in
Japan.
